Provides a needy child in Guatemala with a Christ based education. 100% of sponsorship funds are used for the operation of the school and the children’s needs including: teacher’s salaries, building operation, teaching materials and supplies, as well as a uniform and a nutritional snack.
Note: We have increased the monthly amount because of the low exchange rate and increased costs. If you are unable to give $60/month, you can give at the old rate of $50/month! Adjust your cheque or e-Transfer accordingly. PayPal only has the new rates. If you would like to give a different amount, please contact us.

from Light of the World Christian School in Santa Catarina Bobadilla, Guatemala. We believe that a very important relationship is born when a sponsor chooses to support a child. It is not only about providing an opportunity for this child to have a good education that they would not otherwise be able to have. It is not only about economic help. It is truly about giving hope and love to a child in need. Please pray for your child and be willing to develop a relationship with them through letters and visits if possible. We have seen that these things make amazing differences in the lives of the children in our school and their families.
The purpose of Light of the World Christian School is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We also exist to provide a great education for underprivileged children in Guatemala and to train leaders that will change their country and the world. With the help of the sponsorship program we are able to provide great educational opportunities, school supplies and a daily nutritious breakfast/ snack for the children.
As a sponsor you will receive three letters a year from your sponsor child. You will also receive an annual picture and update. Please remember that because the children are young and still learning to write the letters will not be long. You will be able to send your sponsor child three letters a year through e-mail and a small gift. The gift should be able to fit inside a freezer size ziploc bag. Please do not send your sponsor child anything valuable such as gold jewelry or toy guns or swiss army knives. You are encouraged to send pictures of your family once a year with your gift but please do not send pictures of your house, boat of other possessions that could symbolize wealth to underprivileged families. Gifts can be sent with the church mission team to Guatemala or with Juan Carlos and Liz when they visit Canada.
